  • A working understanding of the AI-for-security evaluation landscape and its limitations.
  • Sufficient software engineering depth to read unfamiliar code, reason about runtime behavior, and engage with senior engineers and ML researchers.
  • Familiarity with model post-training and evaluation, including agentic scaffolds and container-based rollout infrastructure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Sound judgment on dual-use questions and a commitment to building measurement tools that aid defenders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, bias for action, and comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Competitive CTF, published CVEs, a bug bounty record, or OSS-Fuzz contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap and strategy for Scale's Cybersecurity portfolio, including training data, RL environments, agentic task suites, and evaluation products.
  • Define the capability map for training and measuring AI security capabilities, such as vulnerability discovery, patch generation, secure code review, malware analysis, and incident triage.
  • Determine Scale's competitive strategy across the offense-defense spectrum for cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Partner with ML researchers and security practitioners on task specifications, grader design, and verifiable rewards, ensuring execution-grounded verification.
  • Drive the infrastructure roadmap for reproducible vulnerability images, fuzzing toolchains, sandboxed execution, and automated verification.
  • Own the responsible-development posture, including containment, coordinated disclosure, and customer vetting.
  • Establish governance for data quality, contamination prevention, license and IP hygiene, reproducibility, and release management.
  • Recruit and manage a contributor network of cybersecurity practitioners.
  • Own external partnerships with open-source benchmark collaborations, academic security groups, and enterprise data partnerships.
