Senior AI Platform Engineer
About The Position
MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders. In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk's operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk's strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours. We’re looking for a Senior AI Platform Engineer to build the shared systems that enable teams across MaintainX to ship AI-powered products reliably at scale. You will design and operate internal services that standardize how AI workloads run in production, with clear abstractions, safe defaults, and strong observability. This role is focused on platform leverage- reducing operational and cognitive load for other developers while raising the bar for reliability, performance, and delivery speed across the AI stack.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Python backend development + systems design experience.
- Experience shipping AI-powered or LLM-integrated backend systems.
- Comfort working across multiple layers (services, data, infrastructure, AI tooling).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and IaC (Terraform/Pulumi).
- Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous processing.
- Have familiarity with AI or data-heavy services where reliability and cost matter at scale.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate scalable backend services and internal APIs for the AI platform.
- Integrate LLMs and AI tool execution into reliable, production-ready workflows.
- Own production reliability for AI platform infrastructure through observability, alerting, and incident response.
- Improve performance and cost efficiency of AI runtimes through profiling, tuning, and capacity planning.
- Contribute to shared infra: CI/CD, observability, deployments
