Senior AI Platform Engineer (Tech Lead)

Moring Ai•Alpharetta, GA
•$100,000 - $125,000•Onsite

About The Position

Moring.ai is hiring a hands-on Tech Lead to lead engineers building an AI platform for a large financial services enterprise. The platform enables developers to build and deploy agentic AI workflows: Python applications that call LLMs, use tools, and run as agents on Kubernetes. Platform components include an LLM gateway, agent runtime, MCP servers, skills registry, retrieval, evaluations, observability, and governance. The Tech Lead will write a substantial portion of the code, review work from the team, break down projects, and keep the platform shippable. The architect sets the overall design; this role turns it into a working product. The role emphasizes strong software engineering, production reliability, cost, latency, security, and testing systems with non-deterministic outputs. It is full-time and on-site in Alpharetta, Georgia, with travel up to 10% to customer sites. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States (GC/EAD/US Citizen). Salary is listed as 100–125K plus stock options.

Requirements

  • 7–9 years of software engineering experience shipping production systems in backend, platform, or full-stack roles.
  • Expert Python skills, including experience building APIs and services with FastAPI or a comparable framework, familiarity with Python testing and packaging, and the ability to write exemplary code.
  • Strong software fundamentals in data structures, API design, distributed systems, databases, concurrency, and security basics.
  • Ability to design and build APIs and backend systems end to end; full-stack ability is preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of AWS, including EKS or ECS, Lambda, IAM, and networking, plus Kubernetes.
  • Some infrastructure-as-code experience, such as Terraform or CDK.
  • Hands-on experience building agents, RAG pipelines, or LLM applications; knowledge of major model APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Bedrock; experience with at least one agent framework; and understanding of context management, token economics, and testing non-deterministic systems.
  • Familiarity with MCP.
  • Prior experience leading a small team, or experience as a go-to engineer who is ready to lead.
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs in plain language to non-engineers.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (GC/EAD/US Citizen).

Nice To Haves

  • Full-stack experience with React or a comparable front-end technology.
  • Experience inside large enterprises, especially regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 3–5 engineers, break down work, set priorities with the architect and CEO, review code, and keep delivery on track.
  • Write production code across the platform, including the LLM gateway, agent runtime, MCP servers, skills and asset registry, evaluations, and APIs for deploying agents.
  • Design and build Python APIs and services with tests, observability, clean interfaces, and clear error handling.
  • Build developer-facing platform components such as a CLI, SDK, or web UI so customer engineers can take an idea through to a deployed agent independently.
  • Set coding standards, the code review process, test strategy, and CI/CD pipeline, and maintain team adherence to them.
  • Build and extend the evaluation harness so AI changes are shipped with evidence.
  • Deploy reproducibly into customer environments, including AWS accounts, EKS clusters, private networks, and internal registries, without manual steps.
  • Work with customer engineers in design sessions, demos, and security reviews.
  • Take production ownership, participate in an on-call rotation, and tune performance and cost.
  • Mentor team engineers and improve their engineering and AI practices.
