About The Position

As a Senior AI Engineer in Workday’s Agent Factory, you will drive end-to-end system design, implementation, and product integration for a core domain of next-generation intelligent agents. The role focuses on orchestrating intelligence and delivering products by connecting AI capabilities to Workday’s platform and user workflows. You will integrate foundational models safely and reliably into production-grade software, design and experiment with complex agentic workflows, and translate AI capabilities into scalable business value. You will also contribute to Responsible and Governed AI by implementing guardrails for privacy, predictability, and explainability when agents interact with sensitive financial data. The work balances domain-level system architecture with execution and addresses constraints such as latency, cost, and reliability. Agent Factory consists of small, senior, cross-functional AI teams that build production-grade agents embedded in Workday’s platform. Teams own problems end to end and collaborate across product, AI engineering, and full-stack development to address customer challenges at global scale. Workday uses a flexible-work approach, with at least 50% of each quarter spent in an office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on the role. Remote home-office employees may also come together in offices for important moments.

  • Experience designing evaluation datasets, test suites, and automated metrics tied to product requirements, such as golden sets, production traces, or synthetic data.
  • Experience evaluating multi-step agent behavior, such as tool use, task completion, and trajectories.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
  • High sense of agency and ability to drive work forward independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and translate complex problems into clear, thoughtful solutions.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, team-oriented environment and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Track record of technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
