About The Position

A leading construction and engineering organization is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to help design, build, and scale an enterprise AI platform that powers intelligent applications across the business. This role will focus on developing the AI orchestration layer that enables teams across the organization to leverage AI solutions securely, efficiently, and at scale. This engineer will play a key role in advancing a flagship internal AI platform that serves as the foundation for workflow orchestration, agent-to-agent communication, observability, and AI-driven business solutions. The platform is being built to support enterprise-wide adoption of AI by creating reusable services, scalable APIs, and seamless integrations with cloud and data platforms.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience building production-grade AI services, AI platforms, or reusable AI infrastructure.
Strong background developing scalable backend APIs and distributed systems.
Experience with LLM integrations, AI workflows, MCP, and RAG architectures.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native development and containerized environments.
Strong SQL and relational database experience.
Experience delivering complex enterprise software solutions.

Responsibilities

Building the AI orchestration layer behind a strategic enterprise AI platform.
Developing reusable AI services and APIs that can be leveraged across multiple applications and business units.
Creating scalable backend solutions that enable agent-based workflows and enterprise AI capabilities.
Enhancing observability and monitoring so teams can better track AI requests, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
Supporting the evolution of a platform that allows systems across the organization to integrate with AI services through a common framework.
Collaborating with architects, product leaders, and application development teams to implement innovative AI solutions.
Design, develop, and deploy reusable AI platform services and backend APIs.
Build scalable cloud-native services that orchestrate enterprise AI capabilities.
Develop integrations with leading AI platforms and large language model technologies.
Design and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and agent-based workflows.
Integrate AI services with enterprise data platforms and cloud infrastructure.
Implement monitoring, logging, observability, and performance optimization strategies.
Ensure AI solutions meet security, governance, and compliance requirements.
Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical leadership.
