About The Position

Responsible for leading the planning and coordination of the City’s advocacy activities to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, this role will support negotiations with government agencies and key stakeholders to advance advocacy priorities and secure positive outcomes for the City. The role will oversee stakeholder engagement and communications, coordinate prioritisation of initiatives and support high-level representation by preparing high-quality briefings, engagement plans and advocacy materials for the Mayor, CEO, Executive, and Elected Members. An experienced professional, you bring the ability to operate with autonomy and sound judgement, particularly when navigating complex or sensitive matters. You will confidently oversee the City’s advocacy portfolio, working across the organisation to ensure initiatives are appropriately positioned and effort is focused where advocacy can have the greatest impact.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to analyse complex issues and provide strategic, evidence-based advice.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy, policy or government relations with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong project planning and delivery skills, including setting and monitoring outcomes.
  • Knowledge of government processes, policy and governance frameworks.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Economics, Public Policy, Planning, Business or similar) or substantial experience in a similar role.
