About The Position

Join Aprio's Nonprofit Consulting team and help clients maximize their opportunities. Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a Senior Advisor to join their dynamic team. The Aprio Nonprofit Consulting Group (NPCG) Senior Advisor works closely with Aprio NPCG Partners, our Professional Practice Team, and other Aprio NPCG staff as well as our clients to lead interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) client engagements. As part of a high-level consulting team, this position requires strong critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and project management skills as well as the ability to adapt to different client environments. The Aprio NPCG Senior Advisor’s responsibilities would include successful planning, leading, and management of engagements within our 5th business pillar of service.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of accounting experience, including demonstrated experience operating as a nonprofit chief financial officer.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • Ability to autonomously lead the nonprofit organization’s finance and accounting team.
  • Ability to present to leadership and governance.
  • Aptitude to effectively prioritize and manage client and Aprio NPCG staff on a daily basis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trust and confidence with professionals at all levels, both within the client organization and Aprio NPCG.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site at various client locations and travel to client locations and meetings as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) client engagements.
  • Plan, lead, and manage engagements within the firm's business pillars of service.
  • Perform high-level financial reporting and analysis to equip senior leadership with actionable insights.
  • Ensure clear presentation of data for informed and timely decision-making.
  • Perform comprehensive cash flow analyses and projections to ensure sufficient liquidity and identify potential future challenges.
  • Evaluate organization's staffing levels to ensure alignment with funding and operational requirements, and provide optimization recommendations.
  • Monitor actual expenditures against budget and conduct variance analyses, recommending adjustments.
  • Review and provide feedback on reports prepared by the Finance team for accuracy, conciseness, and strategic alignment.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop and adopt a new Investment Policy Statement.
  • Serve as a resource to the Finance team during annual financial statement preparation and management.
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the Finance team.
  • Establish recurring check-in meetings with the CEO to review priorities and assess evolving needs.
  • Other work as assigned.
