About The Position
Mater is seeking a Senior Media Advisor to join their Corporate Affairs team in Newstead, Brisbane. This role is key in showcasing Mater's work, highlighting the achievements of its clinicians and researchers, and their impact on patients' lives. The position requires an empathetic and sensitive storyteller with sound news judgment and strategic planning abilities, focusing on stories ranging from "miracle babies" to "vaccine breakthroughs."
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, public relations or relevant discipline.
- Minimum five years’ relevant experience.
- Passion for telling health and human stories is essential.
Nice To Haves
- Experience of TV, radio, print or online journalism is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Media and Communications leadership team to support Mater’s strategic objectives.
- Taking a leading role in Mater’s media activity across Mater Health, Mater Research, Mater Foundation and Mater Education.
- Supporting the Director Communications and Media in identifying media issues, responding to media inquiries and providing strategic advice to key stakeholders.
- Developing proactive media opportunities to showcase Mater’s services and people.
- Providing advice and support to key internal and external Mater communications projects.
- Building collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders across Mater.
