About The Position

As a Senior Advisor II, Application Architecture – Refining, you’ll shape technology solutions that support Phillips 66’s refining operations and long-term digital strategy. This role connects business priorities, operational reliability needs, and technology capabilities to deliver practical, secure, and scalable solutions across refinery sites. You’ll work with business leaders, technical teams, and enterprise architects on complex initiatives that improve availability, reduce risk, strengthen data quality, and enable more consistent execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 6 or more years of overall IT experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in solution, application, enterprise, or business architecture roles supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, or refining environments
  • 5 or more years experience designing complex, integrated software and data solutions and serving as a technical advisor on high-complexity initiatives.
  • 5 or more years experience working across business and technical teams to define requirements, shape roadmaps, and deliver scalable solutions.
  • 5 or more years experience working with existing enterprise integration, application architecture, data architecture, and hybrid platform patterns.

  • Familiarity with containerized and cloud-native architectures, including AKS, EKS, Kubernetes, microservices, API management, service-to-service integration, secrets management, and observability
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration technologies and patterns, including MuleSoft, Azure Data Factory, Azure Integration Services, API gateways, event-driven architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and integration across SaaS, cloud, on-premises, and OT-adjacent systems
  • Familiarity with observability platforms and practices, including application performance monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, and service health concepts
  • Familiarity with relational, NoSQL, time-series, graph, and analytical database technologies
  • Understanding of industrial cybersecurity, OT/IT segmentation, secure data movement from refinery environments, and risk management for operational technology-adjacent solutions
  • Experience supporting AI, advanced analytics, or decision-support solutions in operational environments
  • Experience influencing architecture decisions across business and technical teams without direct authority

Responsibilities

  • Define current- and future-state architecture for refining capabilities, applications, integrations, data flows, and enabling technologies.
  • Elicit and document complex business requirements through interviews, workflow analysis, workshops, and related methods, then translate them into clear solution designs.
  • Design end-to-end application and integration structures, including process flows, APIs, data models, master data, workflow orchestration, and supporting technologies.
  • Analyze current systems and processes to identify gaps, technical debt, duplication, performance issues, and opportunities to standardize across refineries.
  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps, architecture artifacts, standards, principles, reusable patterns, and rollout plans aligned with business priorities.
  • Evaluate and recommend technical developments, including cloud, data, integration, and AI-enabled capabilities that improve technology quality and business outcomes.
  • Guide design reviews, governance forums, testing, release planning, and implementation activities to ensure solutions are secure, feasible, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise direction.
  • Monitor application health and support complex defect, performance, and security issue resolution, including identifying vulnerabilities and coordinating remediation.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and subject matter expert, provide guidance to colleagues, and support continuous improvement through experimentation, metrics, and lessons learned.
