About The Position

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Advisor, Hazard & Risk Management. In this position, you will play a key role in building a proactive compliance function to support Trans Mountain senior management in ensuring completeness and accuracy of compliance risk management activities. This role will be responsible for a variety of duties related to effective implementation, documentation, monitoring and reporting on Trans Mountain’s Integrated Safety and Loss Management System (ISLMS).

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and subject matter expertise for Hazard and Risk Management (HRM), including advising Program Managers and Directors on the creation of plans, standards, and procedures to ensure alignment with ISLMS and other regulatory obligations.
  • Facilitate risk assessments and provide subject matter expertise on control design and effectiveness with stakeholders.
  • Document controls to mitigate identified operational risks, ensuring consistency across functions within TM and monitor and assess control effectiveness through data, testing, and performance indicators.
  • Lead and support HRM-related ISLMS implementation and continual improvement initiatives by managing projects, identifying adoption gaps, and engaging regularly and often with internal stakeholders across the company to communicate areas for improvement to drive performance improvement.
  • Participate and support various internal committees and meetings on HRM, compiles annual ORM Risk Report for presentation at the Quality Assurance Annual Management Review and for inclusion in the Quality Assurance Annual Report, including identification of trends and areas of improvement.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Hazard and Risk Management processes and systems, and develop communications and training, including LMS, in-person, and webinar-based sessions.
  • Lead the Annual Operations Risk Management (ORM) process by facilitating risk workshops with stakeholders to identify, assess and evaluate risks.
  • Update and maintain Trans Mountain's Unified Hazard and Risk Register (UHRR) and support the development and execution of risk treatment plans from the annual ORM process.
  • Provide governance of ISLMS risk registers (UHRR and Contractor Hazard and Risk Register (CHRR)) by applying senior risk judgment to ensure risk information is consistent, complete, aligned with control expectations, and defensible.
  • Provide expert advice and support on Regulator audits and assessments and compile detailed responses and documentation in response to information requests and audit interviews.
  • Work across multiple departments to ensure all relevant information is accurately captured and provided to Regulators to ensure successful outcomes from Regulator audits and assessments.
  • Contribute to reporting and assurance activities by providing insight into control performance and risk mitigation effectiveness.
