About The Position

The Senior Advisor – Federal Strategy and Budget will be responsible for developing, assessing, and evaluating policy proposals related to federal advocacy and budget management. This role involves ensuring alignment with administration policy goals and benefit to the city, making recommendations to senior officials, and planning and executing approved proposals. The Senior Advisor will also manage reforms and policies related to federal policy and budget management issues, including contract payment issues, in coordination with various entities. Additionally, the role requires acting as a liaison with communities, advocates, elected officials, and civic organizations, and coordinating with relevant agencies and institutions to pursue initiatives and ensure efficient relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 6+ years of experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize between conflicting demands.
  • Flexibility to meet unpredictable demands.
  • Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interest and awareness of NYC budgeting, federal policy, public health, mental health, and social services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, assess, and evaluate policy proposals related to federal advocacy and budget management.
  • Make recommendations to the Deputy Mayor, Chief of Staff, and other senior officials.
  • Plan and execute approved policy proposals.
  • Manage reforms and policies related to federal policy and budget management issues, including contract payment issues.
  • Act as a liaison with communities, community advocates, elected officials, and civic organizations.
  • Coordinate with relevant agencies, boards, commissions, organizations, and institutions to pursue initiatives.
  • Review agency and interagency work products.
  • Coordinate communications and outreach strategies.
  • Ensure positive and efficient relationships between all stakeholders.
