About The Position

The Senior Advancement Business Intelligence Analyst serves as the Foundation’s senior technical expert for business intelligence, reporting, analytics, and data visualization. This role designs, builds, and supports business intelligence solutions that help leaders and frontline teams understand fundraising performance, pipeline activity, donor engagement, campaign progress, operational trends and future opportunities through advanced analytics and predictive insights. This position translates business needs into scalable reporting, dashboard, and analytics solutions. The role partners closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop technical solutions, validate data, improve reporting processes, and strengthen the organization’s ability to use data in decision making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or data strategy, including experience developing enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Two (2) years in a fundraising and/or advancement environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports, dashboards, KPIs, and analytical tools that support frontline fundraising, constituent engagement, annual giving, and advancement leadership needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with SQL, SDK, Visual Studio, data structures, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SSRS).
  • Experience working with fundraising CRM platforms (e.g., Blackbaud CRM, RE NXT, Salesforce).
  • Experience working with complex fundraising data environments including data warehouses, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Proven ability to translate fundraising and engagement business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience implementing reporting standards, documentation practices, quality-control processes, and self-service analytics solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and explain reporting outputs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to contribute technical leadership to cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders through subject matter expertise, clear communication, and practical problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with commonly used workplace technologies, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, CRM platforms, and other cloud-based collaboration and document management tools; demonstrated ability to leverage emerging technologies to enhance productivity, accuracy, and overall work quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022, and Blackbaud SDK, and Python.
  • Strong understanding of higher education foundation fundraising data, KPIs, and advancement reporting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Foundation’s senior technical expert for business intelligence, reporting, analytics, dashboards, and data visualization.
  • Design, build, test, document, and maintain BI solutions that support fundraising performance, campaign execution, pipeline management, donor engagement, and operational effectiveness.
  • Execute the BI priorities, translating strategic direction into practical reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Partner with fundraising, annual giving, alumni engagement, donor services, finance, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business questions into usable reporting and analytics tools.
  • Recommend technical approaches, reporting structures, data models, and visualization methods that improve accuracy, usability, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Build and maintain reporting datasets, dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical tools using approved platforms and standards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on BI tools, data structures, reporting logic, and analytics methods.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, scorecards, self-service tools, and visualizations and analytical models that support fundraising strategy and engagement outcomes.
  • Build and maintain KPIs, business definitions, and calculation logic in alignment with standards established by the AVP and data governance processes.
  • Produce pipeline analytics, portfolio performance metrics, campaign reporting, fundraising forecasts, predictive models and other analyses needed for planning and decision-making.
  • Translate business needs into scalable reporting and BI solutions that are accurate, user-friendly, and sustainable.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and recommendations that inform fundraising strategy.
  • Validate reporting outputs, troubleshoot discrepancies, and partner with data management staff to resolve data quality or logic issues.
  • Guide stakeholders in interpreting reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Train users on reporting tools, dashboards, and data interpretation to support greater self-service and data literacy.
  • Identify trends, insights, and opportunities for reporting improvement.
  • Implement and maintain reporting standards, business definitions, documentation, and quality-control practices established through the Foundation’s data and reporting governance framework.
  • Maintain documentation for reporting logic, data sources, dashboards, and standard reports to support transparency and continuity.
  • Manage reporting intake, requirements clarification, development timelines, testing, and lifecycle maintenance for assigned BI solutions.
  • Identify inefficiencies in reporting workflows and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, usability, and sustainability.
  • Support the transition to a more proactive, standardized BI function by improving report consistency, documentation, and self-service access.
  • Support the adoption of self-service reporting tools and data literacy practices across fundraising and engagement teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled analytics and automation tools, and recommend practical applications to improve reporting efficiency and insight generation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
