Standard Iron is seeking a Senior Advanced Design Engineer to lead complex product development initiatives and innovative engineering solutions that meet customer needs and manufacturing objectives. This role is ideal for an engineer with ~5-10 years of experience who is ready to mentor emerging engineering talent, apply strong technical expertise, and collaborate across functions to bring products from concept through production. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- ~5-10 years of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or a related environment
- Proven ability to lead projects and deliver results
- Strong communication, collaboration, and project coordination skills
- Ability to balance technical requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives
- Advanced proficiency in FEA, structural design, and material selection
- Deep understanding of DFM, fabrication, and welding processes
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and fuel systems… and the applicable regulations
- Ability to independently manage assigned engineering projects and priorities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Expertise in CAD(Creo) modeling and engineering documentation
Responsibilities
- Own full product development cycles from concept through production
- Create and maintain engineering models, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Lead design architecture and engineering decision-making
- Drive innovation in product performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Lead cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and sales
- Establish project scope, timelines, and technical requirements
- Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
- Participate in customer and supplier discussions to ensure successful project outcomes
- Mentor Emerging Engineering team members
- Provide technical guidance and design reviews
- Promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement
- Lead development of innovative products and processes that improve performance and efficiency
