This is a professional position conducting confidential investigations of alleged abuse, neglect, self-neglect and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. The duties of the person in this position include conducting investigations regarding these allegations. The role also serves as a mentor to unit adult protective investigators, responsible for mentoring new investigators by providing shadowing opportunities, orientation to community and state agency partners, and serving as their primary contact during the probationary period. The Senior Investigator keeps the API supervisor and Operations Program Administrator informed of potential issues such as staffing and training needs. They refer vulnerable adults to appropriate services and attend required training, conferences, and meetings. Additionally, the position involves acting as the Supervisor when they are unavailable, which includes reviewing new intakes, assigning investigations, and completing thorough reviews of safety assessments and closures.
