Thrive Physical Therapy Partners is looking for a Senior Manager, Accounting to join our growing accounting and finance team. This role will support key areas including financial reporting, month-end close, audit, M&A integration, and process and system improvements. The Senior Manager will initially serve as a senior individual contributor reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, with significant ownership over key accounting, reporting, and cross-functional initiatives. As the accounting function continues to grow, this role is expected to take on direct reports and broader team leadership responsibilities. This position is ideal for a high-performing accounting professional with a strong public accounting foundation who is looking to take on significant ownership within a fast-paced, private equity-backed organization and grow into a broader leadership role.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting audit/assurance experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, month-end close, and financial statement audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex accounting projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Active CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems is a plus.
  • Healthcare and/or private equity-backed company experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Perform monthly financial statement and account-level analysis to identify and explain key trends and variances.
  • Take ownership of complex accounting matters and key accounting workstreams.
  • Help maintain strong accounting processes and internal controls as the organization continues to grow.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis initiatives.
  • Partner with operations teams to provide actionable financial insights and analysis to support KPI tracking and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with business leaders to improve financial visibility and support decision-making.
  • Serve as a finance and accounting resource to business partners across the organization.
  • Support the annual financial statement audit and preparation of PBC schedules.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support accounting, tax, and compliance initiatives as needed.
  • Support the financial and accounting integration of newly acquired businesses.
  • Assist with onboarding acquired entities into the company's accounting processes, systems, reporting structure, and internal controls.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure timely and effective financial integration following acquisitions.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate accounting processes.
  • Develop scalable processes and controls to support continued organizational growth.
  • Support ongoing optimization and use of Sage Intacct and other accounting and finance systems.
  • Independently lead accounting and cross-functional improvement initiatives from identification through implementation.
  • Initially serve as a senior individual contributor and resource within the accounting function.
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and informal mentorship to members of the accounting team.
  • Partner closely with the Assistant Controller on accounting priorities, process improvements, and department initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently lead projects and workstreams while appropriately escalating significant matters.
  • Transition into formal people-management responsibilities as the accounting team grows, including oversight, coaching, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Help build a scalable accounting organization capable of supporting continued organic growth and acquisition activity.
