About The Position

Microsoft’s Long-Lived Asset Accounting team is responsible for the reporting accuracy of over $400 billion in assets for U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). As a member of our team, the Senior Accounting Manager is an individual contributor, responsible for policy governance, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, and financial reporting related to intangible assets, goodwill, property and equipment in the Company's Form 10-Q and 10-K in accordance with ASC (Accounting Standards Codification) 350 and 360. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.
  • Goodwill, intangible asset, and fixed asset accounting, reporting, and analysis multinational companies transacting in multiple currencies.
  • Advanced skills in applications, such as Excel and Power BI.
  • Large scale ERP experience e.g., SAP.
  • Solid cross group collaboration, interpersonal skills, passion to drive execution and results across multiple teams and business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to dive into details and get things done.
  • Ability to deeply understand and anticipate issues, as well as prioritize and define a course of action in evolving areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews intangible assets, goodwill, and fixed asset accounting records in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Interprets reports and records for managers/stakeholders. Investigates and resolves business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies. Drives analysis based on data trends.
  • Prepares and reviews inputs into financial statements and drafts disclosures for regulatory accounting filings. Provide support for audits.
  • Fields complex questions from business partners in alignment with accounting standards, guidelines, and accounting policies.
  • Contributes to process-improvement efforts by collecting and reviewing business partner and team feedback, as well as incorporating industry optimal practices.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and leverages technology that could automate or speed up internal processes.
  • Performs gap analysis and helps business process owners design and implement operational and financial controls for SOX cycles.
