The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the full month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all accounting activities and financial reporting for assigned divisions are conducted in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role has direct responsibility for the financial operations of multiple divisions, including the successful integration of new sites. In addition to managing close and integration activities, the Senior Accounting Manager leads and develops a team of senior and staff accountants, providing ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and support to drive team effectiveness and growth.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and clear attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and project management focused, with a strong emphasis on self-motivation and analytical skills for continuous improvement and development.
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills, illustrating ability to resolve issues and conflicts efficiently and communicate in a professional manner with leadership, other employees, and outside third parties which may include customers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional and fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.) and experience in Oracle Netsuite preferred.
  • Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and standard office equipment, view and read information on a computer screen, and lift up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing process for their divisions, including all divisional processes and non-recurring journal entries and supporting the preparation of consolidated financial statements that reflect the performance of their divisions.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of site-level financial statements for their divisions, and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including all bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor site-level financial records and performance to provide ad-hoc analyses and reports to the divisional Vice President, and support planning and forecasting.
  • Direct and execute the post-close integration of accounting functions for newly acquired contracts and entities within their divisions, including chart of accounts mapping, and the alignment of accounting policies to corporate standards.
  • Supervise employees through on-the-job training, providing constructive and timely feedback, and supporting the development of senior accountants and staff accountants and other managers reporting to or working closely with.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines that may overlap one another and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments (Operations, Finance, Treasury, Retail, IT, AP, Payroll) to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Support the external audit process, as well as manage and oversee agency reporting with their divisions by coordinating with external auditors, outside third parties and other staff and team members to drive timely completion of various audit and compliance processes impacting the division.
