About The Position

We are seeking an experienced consultant to support client engagements working with state, county, local city, or school district entities. This opportunity is ideal for a professional with a blend of public entity industry experience, likely in a Controller or Accounting Manager role, who enjoys hands-on, high-impact project work. These assignments will likely last 2-3 months.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience
• Experience working with state, county, local city, or school district entities
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and core accounting principles
• Experience supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and audits
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous or evolving environments
• Advanced Excel skills

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in the target public entities
• Experience in project-based, interim, or advisory consulting roles

Responsibilities

• Assist with audit readiness for state, county, local city, or school district entities
• Assist with clean-up of balance sheet accounts, historical reconciliations, and accounting backlogs
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and advisors
• GASB compliance
