Senior Accounting Consultant

Affinity Consulting Group LLC,

About The Position

Our team offers digital and business transformation to law firms and legal organizations, and we are looking for a Senior Accounting Consultant who can help us guide law firm clients through implementing, optimizing, and truly understanding their billing and accounting systems. At Affinity Consulting Group, we offer digital and business transformations to law firms and legal departments. We are their trusted advisers and work with them to build business strategies, create better teams and processes, and implement technology to run a healthy business. The answer to "What do you do?" is always, "Whatever it takes." This position is all about solving problems and making clients happier than they were when they called you. In practice, that means being the calm voice on the call when a client discovers their trust and operating accounts have been quietly out of sync for months, turning "why does accounting hate me" into "oh, that actually makes sense now," and making sure a room full of attorneys leaves your training genuinely understanding what they just learned - not just nodding along. As a Senior Accounting Consultant, your ultimate responsibility is to serve as Affinity's operational and financial expert on legal billing and accounting. That means guiding law firm clients through implementing, configuring, and optimizing their billing and accounting systems, while advising them on the financial and operational side of running their firm. Along the way, you'll apply and explain core accounting principles, support clients on trust accounting and financial reporting, train attorneys and staff, and manage implementation projects from kickoff through go-live.

Requirements

  • Experience in a legal billing/accounting or law firm operations role.
  • Experience helping law firms implement or optimize billing and accounting systems is a significant advantage.
  • Experience training non-technical audiences on financial or technical concepts is a plus.
  • Candidates must reside and be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an operational expert on legal billing and accounting software platforms, guiding clients through implementation, configuration, and optimization.
  • Advise clients on the financial and operational side of running a law firm, including billing workflows, efficiency improvements, and friction points across the client-to-cash cycle.
  • Apply and explain core accounting principles - general ledger structure, journal entries, and financial statements - so clients understand the "why" behind their numbers, not just the mechanics.
  • Guide clients on foundational matter management concepts, including client and matter intake, referral tracking, and numbering, and how they connect to trust accounting.
  • Understand how payroll integrates with the general ledger, including payroll journal entries, without requiring hands-on payroll system administration.
  • Support clients with trust accounting practices as they relate to billing, matters, and engagement letters.
  • Lead training sessions for attorneys and staff, translating technical billing and accounting concepts into clear, practical guidance.
  • Manage implementation and consulting projects from kickoff through go-live, including scoping, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
  • Partner with the sales team during the pre-sale stage, helping prospective clients understand how Affinity will make their firm operationally better.
  • Partner with clients on financial reporting engagements, helping them interpret, improve, and act on their financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Mid-Market Implementations team and provide status updates and escalations to the Director of Implementations.
