About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the accounting for two growing companies, Magma Core Solutions (MCS) and Active Play Solutions (APS), by managing one connected set of books. The position involves overseeing the financial foundation for these companies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to the development of new processes and controls. The work directly supports the construction of new parks and the manufacturing of play equipment, with all financial aspects tying back to the parent company, Epic Parks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
  • Experience with month-end close, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently and carry problems through to resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction accounting experience, including pay applications, retainage, lien waivers, and job costing.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory, work in progress, and product costing.
  • Procore and QuickBooks experience.
  • Multi-entity and intercompany accounting experience.
  • CPA, or progress toward one.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements for both MCS and APS.
  • Maintain current balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support tax, audit, insurance, and banking requests.
  • Review park build budgets, track actual costs, and ensure accurate job costing by project.
  • Review subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers, manage retainage, and prepare owner pay applications to Epic Parks.
  • Review contracts and change orders from an accounting perspective.
  • Account for raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and cost of goods sold.
  • Partner with production leadership on accurate product costing and help build inventory tracking and controls.
  • Prepare progress billing.
  • Manage cash flow and payment timing across both companies.
  • Coordinate subcontractor, vendor, and accounts payable payments.
  • Ensure intercompany accounting between MCS, APS, and Epic Parks is accurate and reconciled.
  • Implement practical procedures and internal controls as the companies scale.
  • Review the work of shared accounting support and assist in building out the accounting team.
  • Utilize Procore and QuickBooks, and contribute to the evolution of these systems.
