About The Position

The eBay Controllership team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a combination of technical and operational accounting skills to join the team as a Senior Accounting Analyst supporting the Marketplaces business! Ideal candidates will use their accounting and process knowledge to contribute to a fast-paced and team-oriented organization!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting.
  • Proven understanding of US GAAP, local accounting and regulatory requirements, SOX and standard accounting processes and controls.
  • Effective communication skills - including the capability to listen to the needs of others, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present findings as well as recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
  • Customer focus and the ability to effectively collaborate and influence in a cross-functional environment; including working with all levels and in multiple locations.
  • Confident with initiating and responding to change; proven ability to leverage systems to improve accounting processes and controls.
  • Ability to set priorities, balance multiple tasks, and deliver results in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience with ERP systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public accounting or at a large growth company and a CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted and relevant Controlling partner across cross functional groups such as Finance, Accounting Policy, Tax, Legal, Shared Services, Systems and local Accounting and Business teams.
  • Support key business initiatives through identification of global and local accounting requirements and ensure implementation of relevant financial controls, processes and automated solutions. This includes concept development, requirements identification, user testing and production implementation.
  • Build and continually refine journaling and reconciliation requirements to ensure global consistency while adhering to local requirements.
  • Drive the month-end close by validating system entries, preparing key reserve analyses, journal entries, account reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, and reporting to Senior Management.
  • Assess SOX implications, modify and implement controls as appropriate, and conduct accounting process reviews with internal and external auditors and local regulators.
  • Conduct continuous evaluations of accounting processes and internal controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness, driving improvements through automation, streamlining, and adoption of best practices.
  • Leverage AI-driven solutions to address pain points and optimize workflows.
