About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Cost & Plant Accounting (C&PA), is responsible for supporting and enhancing fixed asset and plant accounting functions for the organization. This role provides critical financial data, analysis, and specialized accounting expertise to support operational and strategic decision-making across the company. The Senior Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) accounting, depreciation, and capital accounting practices, and acts as a key liaison between accounting services, operations, audit partners, and regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a strong focus on fixed asset, plant, or utility accounting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), utility accounting practices, and property, plant, and equipment accounting.
  • Experience with SAP, PowerPlan, Maximo, and advanced use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets to produce accurate, actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to diverse audiences.
  • High degree of initiative, professionalism, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CIA designation.
  • Strong working knowledge of FERC accounting requirements.
  • PowerPlan expertise highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of fixed asset and related financial data by performing account reconciliations and maintaining compliance with established internal controls.
  • Participate in the development of depreciation schedules and budgets, as well as miscellaneous expense forecasts.
  • Prepare and analyze month-end close activities, including variance analyses and explanatory reporting.
  • Develop ad hoc and recurring reports for internal business partners, executive leadership, external auditors, and regulatory entities
  • Prepare and maintain control and performance reports related to financial and accounting systems.
  • Conduct depreciation studies for capital assets using group and component depreciation methodologies.
  • Maintain and interpret the Continuing Property Record (CPR) catalog and ensure alignment with regulatory and accounting requirements.
  • Process and review master data changes in PowerPlan and related fixed asset systems.
  • Perform software regression testing to validate the accuracy and reliability of third‑party system updates and patches.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, data analysis, and responses to inquiries.
  • Analyze and evaluate user requests for new or enhanced data and reporting capabilities within SAP and related feeder systems.
  • Prepare specialized financial and accounting studies typically requested by executive management or governmental and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide consultative guidance on capital versus operating expense determinations, asset unitization, depreciation, amortization, and net book value calculations.
  • Serve as a liaison between Corporate Accounting Services and assigned business units, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
