About The Position

This position involves reviewing and submitting complex comprehensive reports, account reconciliations, schedules, and support documentation. The Senior Accounting Analyst will provide guidance on accounting activities and policies, delegate work as needed, and keep leadership informed of irregular findings. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining controls over expenditures, allocating funds to grant programs, verifying grant expenditures, and assisting with monthly and annual financial system closing processes. The role also requires analyzing data from various departments for accuracy, corresponding with or assisting auditors, performing complex bank account reconciliations, maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cash management modules, preparing property tax reconciliations and schedules, and preparing/maintaining accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Four (4) years of accounting/auditing experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or directly related experience is required.
  • Skill in the use of an ERP system for purposes of managing, recording, and reporting on financial and related data.
  • Skill in identifying accounting errors, inconsistencies, and unlawful practices.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures related to general accounting and Federal accounting practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws pertaining to the fiscal management and reporting of public funds and accounts.
  • Ability to assist others in projects involving financial systems and make independent decisions within accounting principles and management policies.
  • Ability to delegate work and provide subject matter expertise to team members addressing complex analytical and technical challenges.
  • Skill in executing mastery level data collection, synthesis, analysis, reporting, and development of recommendations to support functional area(s), where analysis requires use of ingenuity or creativity.
  • Ability to work independently, make recommendations, and collaborate with team members, leadership, and stakeholders to drive accuracy and precision in analysis.
  • Knowledge of non-standard and complex analytical practices to independently perform advanced studies on problems that may be undefined, often recommending new methods.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Analyze data received from various departments for accuracy and correspond with or assist auditors during the annual audit of financial statements.
  • Perform highly complex reconciliations of bank accounts.
  • Help maintain Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cash management modules and prepare property tax reconciliations and schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures.
