About The Position

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in New York. This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy, transparency, and operational integrity across Kobalt’s financial reporting and corporate accounting processes. You will be responsible for managing key elements of the month-end close, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and statutory reporting, while supporting audit readiness and driving continuous process improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, balance sheets, and P&L ownership.
  • Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly.
  • Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
  • CPA license or working toward certification.
  • Experience in a global or mid-sized organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee the month-end close process for the Corporate business unit, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Manage the US payroll accounting process in partnership with People & Culture, ensuring compliance and issue resolution.
  • Partner closely with FP&A and People & Culture to support accurate expense reporting and financial analysis.
  • Coordinate statutory reporting and audit requirements for overseas subsidiaries, acting as the primary contact for external advisors.
  • Support group audit activities by ensuring reconciliations, workpapers, and documentation are complete and audit-ready.
  • Oversee global travel and expense systems, including Concur and CWT, and manage the US corporate credit card program.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior accounting staff.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure financial accuracy and alignment across departments.
