About The Position

Mangrove Lithium is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to take ownership of core accounting activities during a key growth phase of the business. This role is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate financial records, owning period‑end close processes, and working closely with internal and external partners to support reporting, compliance, and grant requirements. The position will also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior team members as the finance team scales.

Requirements

  • CPA designation (or near completion)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ERP or new system implementations is a strong asset
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, clean technology, or resource‑based industries (asset, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards
  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
  • Review accounts payable to ensure appropriate coding, approvals, and completeness
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation
  • Support grant reporting and tracking by compiling financial data and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and analyze cost and operational financial reports in collaboration with operations
  • Support internal management reporting and ad‑hoc financial analysis
  • Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations
  • Prepare and file GST/HST, WCB, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and other related statutory filings
  • Ensure compliance with filing deadlines and maintain supporting documentation
  • Work closely with the external bookkeeping firm to support accurate day‑to‑day accounting
  • Prepare required schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation requested by external tax advisors and auditors
  • Support year‑end financial audits and tax filings
  • Support accounting system implementations and enhancements, including testing, validation, and documentation
  • Assist with improving accounting processes, controls, and close efficiency
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and reviewing work of junior accounting staff as the team grows
  • Contribute to building well‑documented, scalable accounting processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
