About The Position

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the accounting leadership team. The position has responsibilities such as monthly financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and support for the Controller during quarterly consolidation and annual budgeting processes. Key responsibilities also include overseeing critical accounting processes like bank reconciliations, corporate card reconciliation, and managing GST/HST returns to maintain financial accuracy. The role extends to collaboration on special projects with the Controller and Senior Manager, Accounting. Success in this position requires adaptability in a changing environment, a commitment to Inuvialuit interests, and the provision of valuable advice to the Controller. Dedication to excellence and a readiness to handle diverse responsibilities will be essential contributions to the team.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of related experience
  • CPA designation or actively working toward it
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures (IFRS and ASPE)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics ERP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in organizations with parallels to hospitality and retail
  • Experience developing and implementing financial strategies
  • Previous work within an Indigenous organization or one with similar complexities
  • Experience working in the North
