About The Position

Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant performs all general accounting functions and purchasing functions, establishes appropriate internal controls necessary to ensure accurate reporting of financial data and the preparation of materially accurate financial statements. The Senior Accountant position is responsible for accumulating and analyzing financial information for internal controls necessary to ensure accurate financial statements; also responsible for accumulating and analyzing financial information for internal and external reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant assists in, but is not limited to, the facilitation of various payroll functions, monitoring of all Federal grants as well as other revenue received from various funding sources. The Senior Accountant primary responsibilities include the recording month-end journal entries, reconciling all balance sheet accounts, process payroll and credit card statements, and account variance analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree.
  • At least three years of experience in business and/or finance operations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Record all month-end journal entries for financial accuracy and reporting which include but are not limited to: Accounts Receivable Entry, Accounts Payable Accrual, Depreciation Entry, Prepaid Expense Entry, Pharmacy COGS and Revenue Entry, Sales Tax Accrual, Grant Revenue Allocation, Admin/Warehouse Allocation, Payroll Accrual/PTO Accrual.
  • Assist Controller with the annual independent audit process; assigns and supervises preparation of all schedules required for the audit.
  • Manage annual cost report audit process; assigns and supervises preparation of all documentation/data required for the audit.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet accounts for reconciliation. Must reconcile all bank accounts.
  • Process and manage payroll.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, providing insights to management for decision-making.
  • Prepare and provide accurate and timely financial statements to review financials with Controller and CFO.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and FQHC specific accounting regulations.
  • Prepares a variety of periodic and occasional reports and statements to be used by the Chief Financial Officer in planning and forecasting activities.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Assists Controller and CFO in preparation and monitoring of annual operating budget.
  • Monitors expenses, compares actual results to budgeted, prepares various detail account analyzes, and prepares certain budget and statistical reports as needed.
  • Maintains cash status reports.
  • Assists accounts payable associate with invoice coding.
  • Review all vendor checks for accuracy prior to submitting payments for signature.
  • Spearhead annual inventory process with pharmacies.
  • May be needed to record grant drawdowns and prepare grant schedule as back-up.
  • Perform other job duties as needed.
