About The Position

Cerence AI is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to support our global finance organization. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, with a strong focus on month-end and quarter-end close processes, accruals, payroll accounting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred)
5+ years of relevant public accounting experience, ideally in a multinational or tech-driven environment
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accrual-based accounting
Experience with payroll, commissions, and intercompany accounting
Advanced Excel skills
ERP system experience (Workday, Blackline preferred)

Responsibilities

Lead key components of the month-end and quarter-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries (commissions, payroll, fringe benefits, accruals)
Manage Open PO accrual process, including reporting, stakeholder coordination, and variance analysis
Prepare and analyze payroll-related entries across U.S. and Canada entities, including bi-weekly processing support
Perform account reconciliations and true-ups (vacation liabilities, commissions, Azure/vendor accruals)
Partner with Procurement, Payroll, and SEC Reporting teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
Review commissions and billing data to ensure proper accounting treatment
Support audit requests and contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives
