About The Position
Coastal Medical Transportation Systems is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This critical position is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting operations, maintaining the general ledger, and leading key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5–7 years of accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines
- Must be a self-starter capable of working independently and leading initiatives with minimal supervision
Nice To Haves
- CPA or active CPA candidate preferred
- experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment preferred
- Prior experience in healthcare services preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries to the general ledger
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are met
- Reconcile and review balance sheet and income statement accounts, resolving complex reconciling items
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, providing analytics and guidance to the team as needed
- Support payroll accounting, accruals, and related reconciliations across multiple locations and cost centers
- Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies, and present findings and recommendations to management
- Assist with financial statement preparation and supporting schedules, and assist with technical accounting research and memo preparation
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor requests
- Drive process improvement, internal control enhancements, and special projects
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards and assist with technical accounting research
