The Senior Accountant is responsible for grant, general ledger, and financial statement functions. The work of the Senior Accountant is in accordance with the Covenant House Mission, Principles, and Core Values. The role involves initiating and maintaining positive, professional, and mentoring relationships with youth and staff, promoting a peaceful, healing environment by utilizing trauma-informed care and positive youth development principles, and ensuring a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for youth. Key responsibilities include general accounting tasks such as maintaining records, generating journal entries, performing reconciliations, assisting with budget compilation and year-end close, working with auditors, and preparing financial statements. Grant accounting responsibilities include preparing billings and reimbursement reports, tracking allowable costs, assisting with progress reports, generating budget variance reports, preparing journal entries, reviewing cost allocations, performing reconciliations, monitoring grant compliance, and communicating with management and grantors.
