About The Position

Sea Mar is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, account reconciliations, grant tracking, and month-end close activities. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely preparation of journal entries and financial statements, compliance with accounting standards and grant requirements, and strong collaboration with internal departments to support organizational operations and reporting needs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in business or accounting
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience as a GL or financial statement accountant.
  • Familiarity with Workday accounting software and PC spreadsheets
  • Ten key by touch.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certificate holder preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements in a timely and accurate manner, including journal entries, supporting schedules, and financial statement analysis.
  • Prepare and review journal entries while maintaining detailed support and explanations for all entries.
  • Prepare and complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately.
  • Prepare reports to various agencies as assigned. This includes reports to grantor agencies, Medicaid, and Medicare.
  • Maintain information supporting the allocation of overhead expense.
  • Allocate overhead for internal and external reporting.
  • Assist as needed in general accounting functions such as payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This includes preparation of payroll tax returns and analysis of vendor invoices.
  • Assist the Accounting team in annual financial audit including preparation of audit schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of cost reports, grant budgets, and Financial Status Reports (FSRs) related to general ledger information.
  • Utilize Workday Financial Management software for general ledger activity, reconciliations, reporting, grants/projects, allocations, and financial analysis.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies and assist in resolving accounting and system-related issues.
  • Assist/Train staff accountants.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
