About The Position

Joseph’s Classic Market is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to play a key role in leading the day-to-day accounting function and supporting the CFO. This is a hands-on position for someone who is technically strong, highly organized, comfortable managing complex accounting responsibilities, and capable of helping lead and develop an accounting team. As a growing, family-owned business, we need strong financial information to make strong decisions. The accounting team is responsible for ensuring our books are accurate, our accounts are reconciled, our close is completed on time, and our day-to-day financial activity is properly managed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial statements, and account reconciliations
Experience with cash management, AP, AR, accruals, and intercompany accounting
Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills
Experience reviewing work and providing guidance to accounting team members
Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines

Responsibilities

Lead the monthly close process, prepare financial statements, record journal entries, review financial activity, and ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and timely.
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and oversee account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, intercompany accounts, inventory, credit cards, depreciation, and other balance sheet accounts.
Manage daily cash accounting activity, oversee cash reconciliations and reporting, monitor cash positions, and provide leadership with accurate daily cash information.
Support and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including aging reviews, check runs, statement reconciliations, collections, payment processing, and escalated issues.
Provide day-to-day direction, review, and mentorship to accounting team members while ensuring deadlines, responsibilities, and accounting standards are consistently met.
Support audits, tax and CPA requests, maintain accounting documentation, and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with appropriate accounting practices and company requirements.
Maintain financial schedules and accounting files, prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis, support related entities, and help resolve accounting issues as they arise.
