About The Position

Zafran is looking for a Senior Accountant to be our first accounting hire in the United States and a foundational member of our growing finance team. This is a high-impact, build-from-scratch role - you won't just maintain the books, you'll help establish the financial infrastructure that scales with us. Working closely with our Finance leadership, you'll own our US accounting operations end-to-end, spanning everything from day-to-day transactions to compliance, reporting, and process-building. Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with strong command of US GAAP and US tax compliance (federal, state, and local)
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Mesh (or a comparable expense/card management platform)
  • Proven ownership of month-end close including accruals, prepaid schedules, and reconciliations - not just supporting, but leading
  • Background in SaaS accounting, including familiarity with revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and subscription-based business models
  • Startup experience is a must - you're comfortable building from zero, working without a playbook, and wearing multiple hats
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to streamline workflows and scale operations
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • CPA is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger for US entities, including posting and reviewing journal entries, ensuring accurate transaction classification, and managing intercompany entries across Zafran's global structure.
  • Own the US close process end-to-end - managing accruals, prepaid expenses, and deferred revenue, ensuring all transactions are recorded, reconciled, and documented on time. Drive continuous improvements in close efficiency as we scale.
  • Manage federal and state tax obligations, sales and use tax across jurisdictions, and ensure compliance with applicable US tax laws. Liaise with external advisors as needed.
  • Own AR and AP operations, including invoice processing, collections follow-up, payment reconciliations, and vendor management.
  • Own monthly reconciliations across all US accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Be the day-to-day owner of our core finance stack — NetSuite, Salesforce, Mesh and more, ensuring data integrity across systems and driving integrations that reduce manual work.
  • Actively use AI tools to automate repetitive workflows, improve accuracy, and scale the finance function without scaling headcount.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to design and document accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures - building the foundation the team will grow on.
  • Maintain audit-ready financials, support external auditors, and ensure documentation standards are upheld across all US entities.
