About The Position

The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of WellSpace Health’s financial operations. This position supports key accounting functions across multiple entities, including lease and revenue accounting, fixed assets, grant monitoring, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong analytical skills and a collaborative mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in similar role required, with at least 3 years in a non-profit and/or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficient in accounting software systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Must be willing to successfully complete the credentialing process if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and reconcile monthly patient revenue accruals in coordination with revenue cycle team.
  • Maintain and manage lease accounting in accordance with current accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842), ensuring timely updates and accuracy.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, work-in-progress tracking, and annual physical inventory coordination.
  • Process journal entries and reconciliations for WellSpace Health and its affiliated entities.
  • Prepare complex journal entries to support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Track and monitor construction-related expenditures, ensuring alignment with project budgets and timelines.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze cost and financial reports for funders, including federal, state, and local agencies, ensuring adherence to funding requirements.
  • Monitor grant performance, analyze spending versus budget, provide variance analysis, and deliver actionable insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Support developing budgets for grants in collaboration with program and development teams.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analyses to support executive decision-making and program planning.
  • Assist with annual audit preparations by compiling documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring compliance with all audit requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, FQHC regulations, and organizational policies to mitigate financial and operational risk.
  • Serve as a collaborative finance partner across departments, helping to resolve discrepancies and improve financial workflows.
  • Assist the Deputy Chief of Finance with other departmental tasks as assigned.
