About The Position

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for maintaining MountainSeed's financial records including general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close across the company's multiple entities. The role also provides exposure to system migration, fund accounting, and M&A support, offering broad technical experience beyond day-to-day close activities. This position is structured as a growth path and may be filled at either the Staff Accountant II or Senior Accountant level, making it well suited to a Staff Accountant II who is ready to step up into a Senior Accountant role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years progressive experience in a staff accountant role
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central strongly preferred
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines required in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable setting or improving reconciliation standards and accounting workflows, not just following existing ones

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in real estate, service based business, or Saas
  • Exposure to Claude or other AI tools
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus, but not required
  • Corporate accounting experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review general ledger journal entries across multiple entities
  • Maintain workpaper schedules such as depreciation and amortization, prepaid expenses, and accruals
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations to a consistent, audit-ready standard, building out new reconciliations as needed
  • Play an integral role in the month-end close process, assisting the Controller in executing deliverables and coordinating deadlines across the team
  • Review financial data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist Controller and Director of FP&A with financial reporting
  • Assist accounting team with invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management
  • Prepare reporting needed for tax filings and support payroll tax compliance
  • Prepare audit schedules and support the audit process
  • Support the migration of accounting systems from QuickBooks to Microsoft Business Central
  • Provide periodic accounting support to the third-party fund administrator for MountainSeed's real estate investment funds
  • Support M&A accounting workstreams, including due diligence and post-close integration
  • Assist with special projects as needed
