About The Position

This Senior Accountant role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. You will lead key aspects of the general ledger, financial reporting, and revenue recognition processes, with a particular focus on construction-related accounting and percentage-of-completion methodologies. The position combines hands-on accounting work with analytical responsibilities, supporting both corporate finance and project operations while contributing to continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS, including financial statement preparation for balance sheets, income statements, and related disclosures.
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Experience with financial analysis, including variance and trend analysis.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition principles, with preference for experience in construction or percentage-of-completion accounting and ASC 606.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience using accounting systems (specific platforms preferred but not required) and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Proactive, self-motivated mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Willingness to work the hours necessary to meet closing and reporting deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction industry accounting experience, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with joint venture accounting, including reconciliations and partner reporting.
  • Familiarity with union accounting, including union liability accounts and related reconciliations.
  • Exposure to insurance-related financial analysis and coordination with insurance departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives in accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with growth opportunities and evolving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Complete and review weekly and/or monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, including researching and resolving variances.
  • Perform detailed variance and trend analysis to ensure financial accuracy and to understand key drivers of changes in results.
  • Prepare and support revenue recognition and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting using percentage-of-completion methodologies, including ASC 606-related requirements.
  • Support accounting and reporting for joint ventures, including reconciliations, financial analysis, and partner reporting.
  • Maintain and reconcile union liability and related accounts to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide accounting support to project teams and operations personnel, helping them understand financial results and project performance.
  • Assist with insurance-related financial analysis and coordinate with the insurance department on relevant accounting matters.
  • Conduct financial analysis and special projects to support management and the broader accounting team.
  • Interact regularly with department managers, internal teams, and external partners to share information, resolve issues, and support decision-making.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing timely, accurate support schedules and PBC documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting team members and contributing beyond assigned responsibilities when needed.
  • Manage workload to meet close and reporting deadlines, including working additional hours when necessary.
