About The Position

Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with an Arkansas-based community bank to find their next Senior Accountant in Little Rock, AR. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Senior Leadership while gaining broad exposure across the Bank's accounting and financial operations, including deposits, loans, payment systems, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end processes. This is a hands-on role within a collaborative community banking environment where the individual will be involved in both daily operational accounting and higher-level financial analysis and review. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is looking to continue growing their accounting career within the banking industry. The role also offers strong long-term growth potential, including the opportunity to gradually expand responsibilities over time as part of the Bank's succession planning efforts within the accounting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 4+ years' progressive accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and present clear, actionable recommendations

Nice To Haves

  • banking, financial institution, or public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; knowledge of regulatory compliance standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed daily and monthly account reconciliations across various bank accounts, operational systems, and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare, review, and maintain journal entries, general ledger activity, and supporting accounting schedules
  • Analyze and support balancing and settlement activities related to deposits, loans, wires, and payment systems
  • Review accounting transactions and financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and banking regulations
  • Process and support accounts payable activities, including invoices, wires, and related documentation
  • Research, analyze, and resolve reconciling items, out-of-balance conditions, and transactional discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including financial reporting preparation, account analysis, and supporting schedules
  • Support audit and regulatory examination preparation by maintaining organized documentation and responding to requests as needed
  • Collaborate with accounting, operations, and lending teams to better understand transaction activity and its impact on financial reporting
  • Support internal control processes designed to help ensure accurate financial reporting and safeguard company assets
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and departmental projects focused on improving efficiency and data integrity
  • Maintain working knowledge of GAAP, banking regulations, and accounting best practices applicable to the banking industry
