About The Position

We have an opening for a full-time Senior Accountant in our growing Client Accounting & Advisory Services department. This role is based in our Westchester, IL office supporting several clients in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced environment. We are a Chicagoland-based CPA firm with offices in Chicago & Westchester, IL, Schererville, IN and Edina, MN. Our firm specializes in audit, accounting and tax services to employee benefit plans, labor organizations, not-for-profit organizations, commercial and governmental entities. In this position, you will be primarily responsible for a range of monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping functions for not-for-profit clients. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • 5-10 years of general accounting experience required
  • Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and/or online) and other accounting software platforms
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with outsourced accounting or Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) preferred
  • Payroll processing and preparation of payroll tax returns experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and quarterly accounting and bookkeeping services for clients
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Assist clients with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with budgeting and financial reporting requests
  • Support audit and tax engagements by preparing schedules and requested documentation
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting questions and financial matters
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend best practices
