About The Position

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting operations of Moses Electric LLC and affiliated entities under Upchurch Holdings. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with project managers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and/or BuildOps (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies timely
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audit readiness
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany accounts
  • Investigate and resolve accounting variances
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Support system integrations between BuildOps and Sage Intacct
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist with external audit requests and provide supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Maintain proper documentation for financial transactions
  • Prepare and post all routine and non-routine payroll journal entries (gross pay, taxes, benefits, employer contributions, and labor allocations as applicable) each pay period
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts monthly (wages payable, payroll tax liabilities, benefits, retirement contributions, garnishments), ensuring amounts agree to payroll reports and cash activity
  • Review payroll registers and funding reports for reasonableness and proper coding, and work with HR/payroll to research and resolve discrepancies
