We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will serve as a key accounting partner for the US entity. This role will act as the primary relay for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of US accounting. The individual will work closely with the North America finance leadership and play a central role in maintaining strong financial processes and controls. The ideal candidate combines solid technical accounting knowledge with strong ownership, autonomy, and a continuous-improvement mindset. A high level of comfort with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, is essential, as the role will contribute actively to modernizing, optimizing, and automating accounting workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, from a technical college or university in accounting.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both.
  • Strong NetSuite experience highly preferred; interest in systems optimization required.
  • Experience in a Professional Services company
  • Strong analytical skills, autonomy, and ability to take ownership of accounting cycles.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact and owner for US accounting reliability, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and ALTEN policies.
  • Maintain and review accurate accounting records, including journal entries, AP invoices, disbursements, and general ledger activities.
  • Take progressive ownership of the month-end close, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of key supporting schedules.
  • Ensure high-quality financial reporting by exercising autonomy, rigor, and analytical judgment.
  • Lead or contribute to the documentation, improvement, and automation of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance Canada and Finance Mexico to ensure alignment across North America and consistency with Group standards.
  • Serve as the key accounting contact for external auditors and tax advisors, contributing to tax accruals, filings, and audit support.
  • Participate in system enhancements, ERP process improvements, and other financial optimization initiatives.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and projects tied to process improvement, tools modernization, and financial governance.
