About The Position

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Payroll, Accounts Payable and account reconciliations, playing a major role in the month-end process. This role will assist with other activities to support the growth of our programs including financial analysis, audit, and other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably some in a non-profit setting
  • Service-oriented team player with a professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in staff development and team building, able to manage through influence and collaboration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the following software is desirable: QuickBooks, ADP WorkForce Now and Mineral Tree
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare account reconciliations, and assist with financial projections
  • Support the finance department with the implementation and improvement of finance-related software systems
  • Work closely with our controller and auditors during annual financial audit and other audits
  • Process payroll and act as oversight for payroll processing and personnel reporting through ADP Workforce Now
  • Work with staff accountant on tasks related to payroll, A/R, vendor relations, and departmental reporting
  • Prepare check runs
  • Review all the payables for processing and maintain accurate vendor records
  • Oversee vendor contracting processes and ensure vendor contracts, W-9s and COIs are kept up to date
  • Assist with state contract billing on a monthly basis
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of departmental records, acting as partner to other departments with a goal of optimal efficiency and timely reporting
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for changes to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to streamline operations
  • Provide support to the finance team to ensure successful transfer of knowledge for critical processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Maintain written policies and procedures for all job-related activities, keeping them up to date as they change
  • Monitor purchasing for compliance and quality as completed by Receptionist
