About The Position

Meets accounting financial objectives by analyzing accounts, identifying trends, investigating variances, and initiating corrective actions. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by verifying and reviewing transactions. Work is performed with limited supervision. Exercises judgment in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting methods, generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations as they relate to finance, accounting and payroll.
  • Purchasing card program.
  • Procurement policies and procedures.
  • Financial services practices and principles to include finance application, accounting, budgeting, payroll and customer utility billing.
  • Non-Profit accounting including grant funding, compliance and reporting.
  • Company policies and procedures.
  • Proficient use in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel including V-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Modern office equipment and various computer programs and applications.
  • Operation of various electronic devices
  • Advanced communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Read, compare, and interpret large sets of information including compiling, computing, and analyzing data and reports.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in accounting from an accredited college or university, supplemented by a minimum of five to eight (5 to 8) years of experience in industry or public accounting or similar work environment, with increasing roles in accounting and project management. Advanced course work in accounting and auditing preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and balance accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Perform a detailed review of account balances including but not limited to operating revenues, ANC (Aid to New Construction) fees, special service charges, inventory, and other member related accounts.
  • Responsible for maintaining the general ledger, prepares the monthly and year-end trial balances, and journal entries.
  • Confirm financial status by monitoring revenues, coordinating the collection, consolidation and evaluation of financial data and analyzing financial reports.
  • Primary liaison between the Finance and Customer Service departments as it relates to billing and all aspects of operating revenue reporting.
  • Responsible for various phases of the annual audit and year-end process assigned to Finance staff and prepares assigned audit work papers, provides support, and requested data to auditors.
  • Primary review of payroll preparation and bi-weekly payroll journal entry, receives reports from payroll processing to ensure no discrepancies, provides support to the payroll process as warranted.
  • Responsibility for more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team along with other departments.
  • Posts information for assigned accounting activities into the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly analysis of assigned general ledger accounts by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Conduct various monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all internal accounting procedures and processes.
  • Develop procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
