About The Position

The Senior Accountant will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s financial records by performing complex accounting and financial tasks, including overseeing and verifying financial transactions. The role supports month-end and year-end close activities, provides insight into account balances and changes, and helps resolve accounting challenges across departments. It may also contribute to accounting systems and process development and act as a supervisor for accounting employees when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Three years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of standard accounting principles, concepts, and procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Attention to detail with excellent accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to applicable standards.
• Support month-end and year-end close by ensuring assigned journal entries and account reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
• Provide insight into account balance details and drivers of change.
• Facilitate communication between departments and Accounting to resolve cross-departmental challenges.
• Stay up to date with industry issues and developments that may directly affect the department or organization.
• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting systems or processes when requested.
• Act as a supervisor for accounting employees when needed.
