Requirements

  • Advanced attention to detail with the ability to exercise professional judgment in ambiguous, data-driven scenarios
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate contracts, synthesize complex data, and explain financial outcomes to non-accounting stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, comfortable asking clarifying questions
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex, recurring accounting processes
  • In-depth experience with ERP systems (Intacct preferred) and advanced Excel functionality (lookups, pivots, reconciliation schedules)
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with full cycle accounting

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accounting for one or more Nexstar revenue streams, serving as primary owner of process to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Act as partner and financial translator for operational leaders, proactively resolving issues.
  • Interpret and apply our members’ contractual terms to the processing cycle, reviewing, validating, and consolidating information.
  • Apply a deep understanding of revenue recognition, accurately calculating and recording unearned revenues and liabilities.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly processes for the revenue stream, owning monthly and quarterly reconciliations for the related G/L accounts.
  • Ensure accurate processing of quarterly member rebate check processing.
  • Ensure strong internal controls and audit readiness across all accounting activities, maintaining clear documentation and support.
  • Act as process improvement lead for the revenue stream, identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve controls, and enhance scalability.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives, occasionally serving as a lead organizer.
