About The Position

Ledn is looking for a full-time Senior Accountant who is passionate about bitcoin and improving the current financial systems to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will be responsible for maintaining an accurate accounting book of records in accordance with US GAAP, assisting in external audit engagements, and providing financial analysis to support management and business decisions. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of US GAAP and audit practices, strong technical accounting and analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-entity accounting and reporting in a fast-growing, multinational digital asset business. This role is based in Canada and requires ongoing Canadian work authorization.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including full cycle accounting in a global multi-entity environment involving subsidiary accounting, reporting, and consolidations.
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or equivalent license.
  • Prior experience working with external auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including experience researching and documenting technical accounting positions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business/Commerce.
  • Intermediate SQL proficiency; previous experience with Snowflake or other data warehouses is an asset.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ownership of complex areas.
  • Strong analytical and database skills with proven ability to deal with large volumes of unstructured data from a variety of sources.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi-currency transactions, multinational environments, and related impacts on the financial statements.
  • Excellent technology skills and comfortable with learning new tools, including AI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Background and understanding of financial services products (loans, trading, savings).
  • Experience working at a startup or in fintech.
  • Understanding of crypto networks, Bitcoin and Ethereum, is an asset.
  • Crypto or industry experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full cycle month-end close, including the preparation and processing of journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers.
  • Handle reconciliations for a large set of daily transactions between internal and external data, investigating any discrepancies that arise.
  • Account for fiat and digital asset transactions, customer custodial funds, loan revenue recognition and other new products
  • Collaborate with the Data and Operations teams to prepare data and month-end reports.
  • Develop, automate, and test the reconciliation process using tools such as Snowflake, Microsoft Excel, or Google Sheets.
  • Support the global consolidation and reporting process, including accounting for the impact of foreign exchange rates, digital asset revaluation, and elimination of intercompany balances and investments in subsidiaries.
  • Support external audit requests, providing timely documentation and analyses
  • Research, document, and advise on technical US GAAP accounting positions for new products, complex transactions, and evolving business requirements.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures.
  • Identify internal control process improvements and help implement scalable accounting practices
  • Develop new and enhance existing accounting processes to meet changes in business requirements and growth, including new products and evolving business or operational processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and account for new products and transactions
  • Identify automation opportunities and lead implementation of associated solutions.
  • Create ad hoc reports and analyses to quickly address issues or questions, and communicate findings to stakeholders to drive corrective action.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc/special projects as needed
