About The Position

Miller International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant for their Denver, Colorado office. This role operates under the Controller, providing essential financial analysis and overseeing critical accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will review the daily activities of the accounting team, including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledgers, and financial reports, while also managing more complex accounting matters. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of Accounting experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of sophisticated Accounting software programs such as QuickBooks, payroll systems and Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, subordinates, customers, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that enables one to get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Direct and assist in the monthly close processes, including but not limited to preparation of monthly account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and preparing financial reports.
  • Reviews and reconciles bank for multiple entities.
  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting package which includes reconciling balance sheet accounts, analyzing expense accounts, credit card and inter-company reconciliation.
  • Work with the accounting team on all daily accounting functions, such as balance sheet reconciliations, monthly close, variance analysis, internal and external financial reporting.
  • Participates in the establishment and maintenance of corporate accounting principles, practices, and procedures for the company's fiscal records and financial reports.
  • Monitors the system of internal controls and procedures in place to protect company assets and to assure that business operation is consistent with established policies.
  • Performs financial analysis upon request to help identify and solve problems and evaluate opportunities.
  • Assist the Controller with the annual financial audit and the annual 401(k) audit.
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual sales/use tax returns.
