About The Position

Davidson is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Assurance practice in Calgary, AB. In this role, you will lead and support audit and review engagements for a diverse portfolio of private companies, not-for-profit organizations, and other owner-managed businesses. You will work closely with managers and partners to deliver high-quality assurance services, develop strong client relationships, and mentor junior team members. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA designation or successful completion of the CFE.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of public practice experience, with a strong focus on assurance engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, CAS, and Canadian assurance standards.
  • Experience leading audits, reviews, and financial statement engagements from planning through completion.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute audit and review engagements for private enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, and other assurance clients.
  • Plan engagements, assess risk, and design audit procedures to address identified risks and areas of concern.
  • Prepare and review complex working papers, financial statements, and supporting documentation in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial information, identify unusual transactions, and investigate accounting issues or variances.
  • Review the work of junior staff, providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and technical accounting matters to managers, partners, and clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive service and trusted business advice.
  • Assist clients with technical accounting issues, financial reporting requirements, and operational challenges.
