About The Position

The Senior Accountant position is a full-time, year-round position at Copper Mountain. The accountant administers and coordinates general ledger transactions to maintain an accurate balance sheet and ensure truthful financial reporting. The accountant also works with Powdr Corp. accounting to make certain that Copper Mountain is in compliance with regard to government and other financial regulations within the privately owned company.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to visually review written and electronic documents
  • Intermediate level skier or snowboarder (or willingness to learn)
  • Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • 4-year accounting or finance degree required
  • 3-5 years’ prior accounting experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience with reconciling cash, cash equivalents & deferred revenue
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in use of computers to include Excel, Word, and Database Management software programs.
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Active CPA License or actively pursuing the CPA Licensure a plus
  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance a plus
  • Prior NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and learn new skills as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple monthly financial close activities including but not limited to: Balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Researching and correcting reconciling items.
  • Reviews for accuracy and posts journal entries (including but not limited to revenue, payroll & benefits, COGS, AP, AR, inventory adjustments, and other general entries as needed)
  • Assist with month-end/year-end close processes, journal entries, financial reporting & necessary reviews.
  • Review financial transactions and accounting records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and account issues.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to improve accounting processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed.
  • Oversee the prepaid expense schedules, reporting and journal entry posting.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff on proper inventory handling and accounting.
  • Assists in any necessary ad-hoc GAAP research compliance projects.
  • Prepares and compiles work papers for the year-end audit working closely with the external audit team.
  • Engage in the annual property tax functions alongside Sr. Manager.
  • Provide an overview of Capex accounting when necessary.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.

  • All Leadership team members are expected to participate in the company’s Front Line Assist program to assist in operations as needed, as well as to participate in Leadership events such as meetings, required trainings, and participating in employee dinners/events.
