We are seeking a Senior Accountant to become a part of our dynamic team. The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of our organization. This is a professional-level opportunity for someone with the expertise to independently manage complex accounting functions, including financial reporting, payroll operations and benefits administration. This person will report directly to the VP of Finance and work a hybrid work schedule of two days in our Monroeville, PA office and three days remotely from a home office. What You'll Do: Independently performs month end close procedures, including P&L and balance sheet review and variance analysis in accordance with GAAP. Responsible for Accounts Payable, including entry, maintenance, analysis, processing payments to vendors, and maintaining W9 forms. Oversees Sales and Use Tax remittance calculations, analysis, reporting, and payments, and maintains sales tax exemption certificates for customers. Exercises discretion and independent judgment to identify variances, resolve discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions Applies advanced knowledge of accounting principles to assess and improve internal controls and accounting processes Serves as a subject matter expert and provides technical guidance to accounting staff and management on accounting matters Independently reviews and responds to audit PBCs as assigned. Oversees and independently manages the end-to-end payroll process for employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Analyzes and reconciles payroll accounts, resolves complex discrepancies, and prepares payroll-related journal entries for the general ledger Ensures compliance with applicable payroll tax laws in conjunction with payroll provider; and reconciling year-end reporting (W-2, W-3, 941, etc.) from payroll provider to general ledger Evaluates and improves payroll processes and internal controls to reduce risk and increase efficiency Serves as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee requests and audits, and responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies Independently reconciles Paid Time Off balances and communicates discrepancies to managers. Processes payment of garnishments and other payroll-related deductions. Exercises independent judgment in reconciling benefit invoices, resolving billing discrepancies with carriers, and approving benefit-related payments Prepares and records benefits-related journal entries and ensures accurate accounting treatment of employee benefit costs and liabilities Monitors and reconciles retirement plan contributions, employer matches, and loan repayments, coordinates with plan administrators and auditors Maintains employee information in the company’s HR software system. Leads or participates in special projects, including system implementations, audits, and process improvement initiatives Contributes to the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
