The Senior Accountant is responsible for journal entries preparation, various General Ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, external audit support, in addition to other accounting duties applicable to a publicly traded company. Prepare and post monthly close entries, including accruals, intercompany transactions, operating expenses, administrative expenses, and cost center allocations. Analyze transactions and account balances, following up with relevant departments as needed. Perform monthly close procedures, coordinating with departments to gather necessary information. Reconcile various general ledger accounts. Support the finance and reporting department by providing accurate and timely financial reports and analysis. Review and update current accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards. Assist in the creation of joint venture financial statements and deliverables. Prepare supporting schedules for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and regular SEC filings. Contribute to initiatives aimed at streamlining and improving company and department processes. Document and monitor internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience required.
  • CPA or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and implement process improvement changes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year in Public Accounting preferred.
  • Experience in the Real Estate industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Yardi Voyager preferred.
